This guide walks you through the process of connecting your exchange account to Sequence and launching your first automated trading strategy. The setup process is simple and only requires three steps: creating a dedicated trading account, generating API keys, and submitting them to Sequence.

(A) Your choice of exchanges:

Our preferred exchange is Bybit based on the technology, liquidity and fees. However we offer a few options depending on your territorial restrictions and goals:

  • : for those that are in jurisdictions that allow derivative trading you can accumulate Bitcoin using our 1.5x derivatives strategy as well as some of our advanced and invite only strategies.
  • Spot: We have a few more options on spot exchanges to accumulate USD using our USD/ALT bots. This trades a DOGE to accumulate USD.

    For those that are in derivatives restricted jurisdictions, our BTC/SOL spot bot is an option to accumulate BTC on spot. The performance of this product is not as high as the 1.5x strategy available on derivatives.

Overview: How Sequence connects to your exchange

To start trading with Sequence, you'll need to complete the following steps:

  1. Create a dedicated sub-account on your exchange
    Each Sequence strategy should run in its own sub-account to ensure proper operation.
  2. Generate API keys with trading permissions
    These API keys allow Sequence to execute trades on your behalf. Sequence cannot withdraw or transfer funds from your account.
  3. Submit your API keys to Sequence
    Once submitted through the API Connection Manager, our trading team will review your setup and activate your strategy.

Step 1: Create a dedicated sub-account on your exchange

Our preferred exchange is Bybit based on the technology, liquidity and fees. However we offer a few options depending on your territorial restrictions and goals:

  • Derivatives: for those that are in jurisdictions that allow derivative trading you can accumulate Bitcoin using our flagship 1.5x derivatives strategy as well as some of our advanced and invite only strategies.
  • Spot: We have a few more options on spot exchanges to accumulate USD using our flagship USD/ALT bots. This trades a basket of blue-chip alt-coins to accumulate USD.

    For those that are in derivatives restricted jurisdictions, our BTC/SOL spot bot is an option to accumulate BTC on spot. The performance of this product is not as high as the flagship 1.5x strategy available on derivatives.

Step 2: Generate API keys with trading permissions

Each exchange requires a slightly different setup process.

These guides will walk you through creating a sub-account, funding your trading wallet, generating API keys with the correct permissions, and configuring exchange settings required by Sequence.

Step 3: Connect your exchange account by submitting your API keys

Once your exchange account is configured, the final step is submitting your API keys to Sequence.

There are two different guides depending on your situation:

  • First-time connection — Use this if you are connecting a new strategy.
  • Refreshing existing API keys — Use this if your API keys expired or need to be updated.

What happens next?

After submitting your API keys through the API Connection Manager:

  1. You will receive an email confirming that your connection was received.
  2. The connection will appear inside your API Connection Manager dashboard.
  3. Within 24 hours, our trading team will review your setup.
  4. If the API configuration and account setup are correct, your strategy will be launched and you will receive a confirmation email once it is live.
